Did the Chicken come first? Well, we all know that the hen and rooster must mate to make fertile the egg. The eggs an the Reid ranch are just that, fertile. Better for the table and breakfast but also for the hatch. We’re hatching our second batch of chicks today. The children watch and count how many are starting to open. The first peck , the first peep, and all eyes hover over the incubators clear cover to watch each little miracle. Eva says,” Grandma come, look it’s another black one. Hurry Grandma, It’s coming now.” Naomi, watching as she sits on the buffet next to the incubator. Her breath making the top of the incubator wet as she waits for the next move of the little chick. Finally It kicks the shell away and flips and flops trying to move its legs . Naomi looks up with delight and smiles as she watches the reaction of her sisters. It’s such fun to learn together of the miracle of life.
