The Great Sun to warm the day, Let it shine

DSC01464
Well, the sun came out too late to dry the garden enough for us to plant the tomatoes.  They have really taken over the living room and need watered every day. Maybe tomorrow or the next day it will happen but in the mean time, Brian is nearly finished with the manure spreader and Oh Boy, it look better than new.

PLEASE PRAY FOR MY CHICKENS / Kansas Farm Life / Carolyn’s Natural Soap /

For the last few weeks we have been losing chickens to a coyote and a fox.  Brian has taken to wearing his side arm in the hopes of taking that sneaky fox or coyote out.  If this keeps up we won’t have chickens or eggs for ourselves and customers. We must build some kind of fence that will keep the fox and his friends out and still allow the chickens to free range.  At last count we have lost about 20 hens.  I can’t see these “ chicken hunters” from my kitchen window so I can  warn Brian of their coming as they come from the west. They are pretty sly.

Please pray for my beautiful chickens.  Thanks

Carolyn

Chickens & Guineas / Kansas Farm Life

My big job today was to drive the ‘85 Ram Dodge dump truck to the gas station and fill a few gas cans.  Then I went to the neighbors and bought 7 Guinea to raise with the 35 chicks.  Brian finished the brooder/ wood shed yesterday so we moved the chicks out of the Dining room.  The next hatch should hatch the 3rd of June. ( The dust in the dining room was really getting to me. Now I can do some cleaning before the next chicks come.) Isn’t that fun.  Life is so repetitious. Don’t you just love it?

BOB THE TURKEY / Kansas Farm Life / Carolyn’s Natural Soap

My little granddaughter helped me mulch the flower beds and garden beds.  She loves to find worms and feed them to the chickens. She is in love with the baby chicks and plays with them and is training them to stay on her shoulder.  She also helps me hang laundry and (shoo) Big Bob away.

Bob

( He’s the 30 lb or so Giant White Turkey).  Bob is so annoying and is constantly picking on our big dog Albert.  To day Albert got so mad that he pulled feathers out of Bobs’ behind which did nothing to stop Bob from his constant attacks. Albert tried to hide in the brooder with the chicks.
